1st March 2021
Start and end of the work package: from Month 27 to Month 36
Work package leader: assoc. prof. Tzvetan Dimitrov
Participants in the implementation of the work package: From University “Prof. Assen Zlatarov” in WP4 will participate: Dr. Tsvetan Dimitrov, Dr. Eng. Fila Yovkova, Tsvetalina Ibreva, Stanka Yaneva, Sevdjan Raffetova Chittalova, Academician Ivan Stoyanov Gutzov – consultant + the entire teams from IPC-BAS and UCTM
Planned tasks:
Task 4.1
Conducting experiments on the synthesis of zircon ceramic pigments by introducing Co, Cr, Fe, Mn, Cu, V as chromophore elements with the use of wastes – rice husk ash and waste catalysts (activated aluminosilicates, synthetic amorphous aluminosilicates, vanadium contact mass BKM) to obtain the pigments.
Deliverable
Determined technological conditions for the synthesis of zircon pigments and specified optimal synthesis parameters – temperature of firing and temperature of retention.
Task 4.2
Investigation of the technological conditions for zircon pigment synthesis and determination of the optimal parameters of synthesis – temperature of firing and temperature of retention.
Studies related to the synthesis of zircon pigments where oxidized ash of rice husks is used as a source of SiO2.
Deliverable
Full characterization of synthesized zircon pigments.
Task 4.3
Synthesis of pigments by solid-phase sintering by using waste catalysts (activated aluminosilicates, synthetic amorphous aluminosilicates, vanadium contact mass (CKM).
Deliverable
Established optimal conditions for zircon pigment synthesis , best suited for practical application.
Results, which will be used for evaluation of the intermediate or final report of the project
WP3 and WP4 will be implemented during the second stage of the project. At the final stage it is envisaged to conduct semi-industrial experiments on the applicability of the best pigments synthesized in the second stage (garnet and zircon) in the glazes, using in KAY group of ceramic tile plants – “Khan Asparuh”, town Isperih and “Khan Omurtag”, town Shumen.
