Work package leader: prof. Irena Markovska
Participants in the implementation of the work package: From the University “Prof. Dr. Assen Zlatarov “, Bourgas in WP1 will participate: Prof. Dr. Irena Markovska, Assoc. Prof. Tsvetan Dimitrov, Ph. Eng. Fila Yovkova, Tsvetalina Ibreva, Hristo Nikolov Pushkov, Academician Ivan Stoyanov Gutzov – consultant + the entire teams from IPC-BAS and UCTM
Planned tasks:
Task 1.1
Investigation of the technological conditions for the synthesis of the valemic pigments and determination of the optimal parameters of synthesis – temperature of firing and temperature of retention.
Studies related to the synthesis of willemite pigments where oxidized ash of rice husk is used as a source of SiO2.
Deliverable
Determined technological conditions for willemite pigment synthesis and specified optimal parameters of synthesis – temperature of firing and temperature of retention.
Obtained rice husk ash at different combustion temperatures.
Characterized rice husk ash by all available methods – X-ray analysis, DTA, IR and so on.
Task 1.2
Investigation of the properties of obtained willemite pigments by X-ray analysis, IR spectroscopy, electronic paramagnetic resonance, electron microscopy, color measurement (by Lovibont Tintometer RT 100 Colour), etc.
Comparison of quality and properties of synthesized pigments from pure and waste raw materials.
Deliverable
Full characterization of willemite pigments by all possible methods.
Task 1.3
Synthesis of pigments by solid-phase sintering as well as by sol-gel method.
Comparison of the obtained pigments by both methods with respect to the quantity of willemite synthesized using different methods: X-ray analysis, synthesis temperature, structure of the pigments ect.
Deliverable
Established optimal conditions for the synthesis of willemite pigments, best suited for practical applications.
Obtained and characterized willemite pigments.
Results, which will be used for evaluation of the intermediate or final report of the project
Articles with project’s results to be published in reputable journal with an impact factor / impact rang.
